Pettyes ["Speckled"] (Little Big Petty)

We inherited two sister Olive Eggers, both with such pretty speckled backs. The name Petty ('petty' in Hungarian = speckle) was a perfect fit for both of them. 

Big Petty (above, showing off her pretty speckled back) was always the more active one. Little Petty (rechristened 'Janka' after a hawk attack) was the most submissive of all 7 of our inherited hens. 

But, Little Petty's untimely death turned Big Petty into Little Big Petty as she was now the runt of the bunch jockeying for food and a good place to roost at night.

Pettyes (as I formally call her in my mother tongue, Hungarian) may be on the low end of the pecking pole, but she is spry and smart and knows how to work her way to the front of the line when necessary!
